I am a postdoc at the Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering at UC Berkeley, focusing my research on optimal control and decision-making under uncertainty. During my PhD, completed in 2016, I divided my time between the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU), College of Information Technology and Electrical Engineering, and Carnegie Mellon University, Department of Chemical Engineering. My PhD research on control and systems theory was advised by Bjarne Foss at NTNU and Erik Ydstie at CMU. I hold master's degrees in chemical engineering (from CMU) and in electrical engineering (from NTNU), both from 2010.

Most of my work involves predictive control and active learning under substantial uncertainty, Bayesian decision theory, optimization, estimation, and stochastic systems. Recently, I have worked on guaranteed safety in trajectory planning, risk reduction and robustness to sudden events, and experiment design for model discrimination and active fault diagnosis.
